Jungle and Mangrove: Carara National Park and Tárcoles River.

Macaws, poisonous frogs, the largest crocodiles in the continent and world-class bird watching.

Exploring the jungle and mangrove with us is so comfortable. Start this trip from the door of your hotel in San Jose, as that is where we will pick you up. Certainly, the 1.5-hour drive along Route 27 offers a picturesque landscape. Enjoy the view, ask any questions you need, and you will see that on this same road, we will make our first stop at Carara National Park.

Of course, there are flat trails suitable for all fitness levels and wheelchair users. So, you can carefully admire the abundant jungle life moving through a forest with 40-meter-high trees. Take a good look at the scarlet macaws, agouti rodents, impressive poison dart frogs, spider monkeys, dozens of birds, fantastic mushrooms, and huge wild cashew trees.

If exploring nature makes you hungry!

Part of exploring the jungle and mangrove with us is to enjoy lunch as a local would. So you’ll eat at a traditional soda restaurant, where you can sample fresh fish or seafood. Re-energized, we will slow down a bit and enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the Tárcoles River, during which you will be able to observe numerous birds while learning from a local guide. Admire the river’s mangroves, which constitute one of the most unique and rare ecosystems in the world, where the astonishing beauty of the flora and fauna will leave you speechless. At the same time, don’t miss the opportunity to see 6-meter-long American crocodiles, the largest on the continent.

Finally, on the return trip, we will stop at a quiet beach to sink our toes in the sand, listening to the soothing sound of the waves.
