Join our team of biologists for an up-close exploration of the hidden nature within the city. Sharpen your senses and listen to the sounds of the tropical forest at night. 

We will meet at Cerro de la Carpintera just before sunset (don’t worry, it’s safe and you can get there by Uber; directions are below). This protected area is one of the last remaining fragments of tropical rainforest within the city. Upon arrival, you will be provided with flashlights, and after a brief educational talk, we will be ready to begin.

Immerse yourself in the darkness of the La Carpintera Protected Area for 2 hours and walk along natural trails in search of animals that only emerge at night. With any luck, we might find insects, fungi, spiders, mammals, frogs, and snakes.
