Tortuguero National Park Inmersion
Get deep into the North Caribbean Lowlands, and visit one of the first and most important National Park of the country, Tortuguero,
Discover much more than just the Green Sea Turtle conservation efforts.
Also known as the Costa Rican Little Amazon, due to the huge and complex rain forest, which happens to be crossed by hundreds of rivers and water channels, one of the world’s most biodiverse regions.
We will start our trip from Pavona Dock where we are going to take a boat through the rivers and waterways that will lead us to Tortuguero Town, in the middle of lush rainforest and untamed beaches. Here we are going to stay at Chinitas Lodge, a family-owned and run Cabins in front of Tortuguero Lagoon, with one of the best sunrise views.
At this location, we will learn from the host how local communities have been inhabiting these thin land strips between the jungle and the sea for centuries, and how they changed from a sea turtle hunting and logging economy, into a 95% ecotourism destination. Also, the Cabins are a perfect location to visit the Wildlife Refuge of Cerro Tortuguero, the highest hill of the North Caribbean Coast, where we can experience the most scenic lookout of the whole destination.
One of the most fascinating activities to experience here is navigating by boat, kayak or canoe the water channels of the National Park to appreciate and witness with great views the overwhelming Flora and Fauna that this place hosts. On group tours, we navigate on 14 passenger boats, but on private tours, we can arrange kayaks or canoes too.
Between July and October we can experience the nesting season of Green Turtles
Last but not least, between July and October we can experience the nesting season of Green Turtles, and we can realize Night Patrols by the hand of a Certified Guide of the Local Association which help organize and manage the sighting of sea turtles in one of the most responsible and sustainable ways of the country. The rest of the year we can also experience:

- Early Birding Walks
- Nature Walk at the Jaguar Trail at National Park
- Lectures of Tortuguero History and/or Cocoa Workshop
